Let others upload to your shared folders

Sometimes you don't just want to send files, you want to collect them. Share a folder that others can upload to, and the people you invite can put their own photos and documents straight into it. No more chasing email attachments.

In short

  • The people you invite can add files and folders to your folder
  • Let in anyone with the link, or only the people you choose
  • People can only change or delete what they added themselves
  • You can see who added what, and you can always remove anything
  • Everything stays private, just like the rest of your files
  • Included in paid plans

Share a folder

Go to My Files and find the folder you want to share. Right-click it, or tap the three dots next to it, and choose Share.

Choose who can open it

Before you create the link, you can pick who is allowed in:

  • Anyone with the link: whoever has the link can open the folder and add files. They don't need an account.
  • Only people I add (requires account): type in the email addresses of the people you want to invite. They have to log in to VeilShare with that email to get in, so the link is no use to anyone else, even if it gets forwarded.

Switch on editing and create the link

Switch on Allow editing and press Create link. The link is copied for you, so you can paste it straight into an email or a message.

What the people you invite see

When they open the link, they see your folder and everything in it.

They can press Upload to add files or whole folders, or simply drag them onto the page. They can also make new folders with New folder.

Who can change what

To keep everyone's files safe, people can only rename, move or delete the things they added themselves.

This only works when they're logged in. If someone adds files without logging in, they can't change or delete them afterwards, but you still can.

As the owner, you can rename, move or delete anything in the folder at any time.

See who added what

In My Files, anything someone else added shows who it came from, for example Added by [email protected]. If they weren't logged in, it says Added anonymously via a link.

Good to know

  • Files that others add use your storage space, so keep an eye on how much you have left.
  • You can stop it at any time. Open Share for the folder again, press Edit and switch off Allow editing. Or press Deactivate to turn the link off completely.
  • If your paid plan ends, your links keep working, but people can only look and download until you renew.
  • Files are locked on the uploader's own device before they're sent, so not even VeilShare can look inside them.

Collaborate on files, privately

Shared folders that others can upload to are included in our paid plans.
